Great news for organic farmers (and we, who eat their crops)! Organic produce continues to be profitable for mainstream retailers. The Organic Trade Association reports that organics account for $5.5 billion in sales, which is a 16.4% increase over 2015.

The Basque Culinary World Prize went to Venezuelan chef María Fernanda Di Giacobbe for her work in “building an ecosystem of education, entrepreneurship, research and development” with cacao opportunities for women.

Food recall alert! More than 21,000 pounds of frozen, farm-raised catfish from Haring Catfish Inc. of Wisner, LA, has been recalled. The fish was distributed to stores, restaurants, and hotels in Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas.
